The Horse 2023

Environment & Technology

Concept, time management of our Project - Green Gaming

Team:
Christian Schepperle & Damian Kölliker

Starting position:
Since we are very intrestet in gaming, and how to protect the environment we want to see how to combine both.

Main questions:
how harmful is gaming for the environment?
is ecological gaming possible?
how can we game ecologically?
ð Which is the best and easiest way?

Possible awnsers on how we can game more ecologically

  1. Buy fewer games and instead borrow or rent them.
  2. If buying physical copies of games, consider buying used or recycled copies.
  3. Buy digital copies of games instead of physical copies, as this eliminates the need for printing and packaging materials.
  4. Buy games with minimal packaging, such as those with paper sleeves instead of plastic cases.
  5. Look for games that have low power consumption while playing.
  6. Reduce the amount of time you play each game.
  7. Recycle any old or unwanted gaming equipment or consoles.
  8. Donate or gift any old or unwanted games to a friend, family member, or to a charity.
  9. Look for gaming services and platforms that are powered by renewable energy sources.
  10. Play games that promote sustainability, such as those with eco themes or mechanics.

Possible collaboration partners
We had the idea to collaborate with a school in india to see how people there feel about green gaming, if there are efforts to make gaming more ecological and if not how it could be done (see Task 15).

Time management
We did not set up a specific schedule, but followed Mrs. Suter's task. During the sports vacations, however, we briefly thought about how to continue. Our goal is to start soon with our experiments and to be ready by the beginning of April at the latest

Possible difficulties
It is a very specific topic, which makes it difficult to get serious information because you have to work it out for yourself and cannot help yourself to a source.
