I visited Ukraine in December 2023 and spent new year’s there.

I lived in Bucha (outskirts of Kyiv).

Krieg und seine Folgen für die Umwelt
Seit mehr als einem Jahr dauert nun der Krieg in der Ukraine. Dieser Konflikt hat viele Menschen das Leben gekostet, Familien auseinandergerissen, Städte und Infrastruktur zerstört. Es stellt sich die Frage: Welche weniger offensichtlichen Probleme sind durch diesen Krieg entstanden?
Um Informationen über die kriegsbedingten Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt zu erhalten, wurden drei ukrainische Flüchtlinge befragt. Alle Befragten waren sich einig, dass die grössten Probleme in den Bereichen der Abfallentsorgung, sowie der Wasser- und Energieversorgung bestehen.
Abfallentsorgung:
Der Konflikt in der Ukraine hat dazu geführt, dass das Abfallentsorgungssystem in der Ukraine nicht mehr funktionieren kann wie gewohnt. Das führt dazu, dass Abfallansammlungen entstehen, je länger das andauert, umso schwieriger wird es den Rückstand aufzuholen. Eine andere Auswirkung ist, dass in gewissen Fällen der Abfall illegal entsorgt wird. Zum Beispiel in Flüssen oder Wäldern. Der Abfall kann in diesem Fall Wasser verschmutzen oder in die Erde gelangen. Das führt zu Risiken für die Gesundheit und die Natur.
Wasserversorgung:
Ein weiteres enormes Problem in der Ukraine ist die Wasserversorgung. Der Angriff auf die Infrastruktur hat unter anderem Kläranlagen, sowie das generelle Wassernetz getroffen. So kam es dazu, dass viele Haushalte über kein fliessendes und auch kein saubers Wasser mehr verfügten.
Elektrizität:
Das wohl grösste Problem ist die Elektrizität. Besonders in den Wintermonaten kam es oft zu Stromausfällen. Das führte zu verschiedenen Problemen. Es war nicht möglich in den kalten Monaten zu heizen, sobald die Sonne unterging sass man im Dunklen, sofern man keine batteriebetriebenen Lichtquellen hatte. Die Stromausfälle hatten auch zur Konsequenz, dass man manchmal Tage lang nicht die Möglichkeit hatte mit seinen Liebsten Kontakt aufzunehmen. Auch die wirtschaftliche Lage hat unter den Stromproblemen gelitten. Beispielsweise in Fabriken und anderen Einrichtungen war es nicht möglich einen geregelten Arbeitsalltag zu bestreiten.
Zusammengefasst kann man sagen, dass der Konflikt in der Ukraine grosse Einflüsse auf die Umwelt hatte. Die Lebensqualität der Menschen in den betroffenen Regionen hat durch die genannten Punkte noch mehr abgenommen. Für diese Probleme müssen Lösungen gefunden werden, bevor alles noch schlimmer wird.

Here is my mindmap about the IDAF. I focussed on Media and what is important when you contact a Newspaper.

Wars cause environmental problems, but which ones? Let those affected answer this question!
For our project there are certainly many types of media we could use. As we have proceeded to interview three people from Ukraine I thinkt the most suitable media would be in written form.
For example we could summarise the answers which are similar. That would make it easier for the reader, as the text would be shorter in the end. And aswell repetitions could be reduced.
Another option for us would be to place the different answers next to eachother to reach some type of comparison characteristics.
Audios of some answers could touch the readers emotions. Hearing a person speak is most definitely more touching than just reading about their experiences.
Also a video of the interviewee’s talking in Ukrainian with English subtitles would be a great option to reach the readers interest.
Also regarding the fundamental information on the situation in Ukraine we could use news article, videos from news channels or on YouTube maybe.

The first impressions of your project are really good. It is a very exciting topic.
2. Are all steps clearly communicated
The steps are quite clear to me. The timetable helps a lot. However, I would like you to include deadline days in your timetable.
3. what already looks promising, interesting
I think you have made a very good effort in visiting this Co2-Capture machine in hinwil. I hope for your group that you can visit this plant to make a good project.
4. what could be added
as I mentioned before, I would love it if you could add some more dates to the timetable. I would also like the post to have a bit more structure.
5. In your opinion, where does the project stand on a scale of 1-10?
in my opinion, the project is on a very good way. However, you are not so far and it still lacks a bit of structure. But I hope you stay on it and continue to work at the same pace.
I give you therefore a 6.5 out of 10 for your project.
