Since a lot has happened in the last week, I would like to give herewith a new overview of the IDAF and the newspapers. I was able to communicate with various newspapers, mostly by phone. I was able to meet new people and gain experience. So I realized that I would be very uncomfortable if my article was published in a bigger newspaper. The topic of wastewater treatment is huge and I have only seen a small glimpse of it. The likelihood of my article containing errors or misformations is just too big for me. Even if it says in an extra field that it is a student project. But now to the individual updates:
Nachrichten aus Greifensee (NaG) - Here I was able to send a draft to the editors. After consultation, we agreed that my article would not be published. The NaG is simply a regional newspaper, where my article would not have fit.
Obersee Zeitung - Obersee Zeitung is the largest of all the registered newspaper publishers. I was able to talk to the editorial director on the phone last Thursday. Even though he showed an interest in my article being published by them, I felt rather uncomfortable. The man had a very direct and demanding manner and I don't like that at all. Anyway, first we agreed that he would send me a template for an article the size of an A4 page. But now today, 03.05.2023 I have made the decision that I want to end the possible cooperation. This newspaper already has quite a large readership and there I would not feel comfortable with my basic article (technical + content). Therefore, I have written a mail that I withdraw my request.
Einfach weniger - I uploaded my first draft here last Thursday. It already looks good, only the pictures are still missing. I think, but for this I lack the authorization.
umweltnetz-schweiz - This newspaper is doing best of all. I was able to send them a draft last week and have now received back an edited text that I think is very good. I have also uploaded it to The horse (link) and sent it to Ms. Suter so she can give me her "ok".
Let's see where we go from here. Take care!
